The Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Offences Court successful Awka, Anambra State, has ordered the remand of a 30-year-old scrap dealer, Kalu Iloh, successful a correctional facility.
The magistrate, U.E. Onochie, gave the bid pursuing Mr Iloh’s arraignment connected a one-count complaint of defilement.
The suspect was arraigned connected Thursday for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old miss with Down syndrome.
While the suspect pleaded blameworthy to the charge, the magistrate adjourned the lawsuit until 24 September for sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Chinyere Okechukwu, a constabulary inspector, told the tribunal that the suspect committed the offence connected 13 August astatine Nkpor successful Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra.
“The 42-year-old parent of the 13-year-old unfortunate reported a lawsuit of defilement astatine the constabulary station.
“She said she came backmost from a concern travel and noticed that her girl was walking successful an antithetic manner.

“On enquiry, her girl told her that the suspect barged into the bath portion she was urinating, forcefully removed her covering and had canal cognition of her.
“After aesculapian introspection astatine the Ntasi Sexual Assault Referral Centre astatine General Hospital Enugu-Ukwu, a aesculapian practitioner confirmed that the miss had been defiled,” she told the court.
Ms Okechukwu said the offence contravened Sections 130(2) (a) (b) of the Administration Criminal Justice Law 2022.
